Durban-based teen, singer-songwriter Arabella Latham, has released a video of her single "Like This". The Indiego team put out a few questions to Arabella and her Management to find out more about the video and also to find out a bit more about Arabella herself. But first, watch the video below:

arabella lathamIndiego: Who is Arabella Latham?

Arabella: I am a simple sixteen year old girl with a complex mind - I think deeply, love quickly, and trust slowly. I am currently in grade 11 and I live in Durban, South Africa. I love music and I love storytelling - and I think that's why I became a songwriter.

Indiego: Is this your first official video release? If not, how many videos have you released so far?

Arabella: The music video for "Like This" is the first music video I have released, but it definitely won't be the last.

Indiego: Did you write the song?

Arabella: Yes I did.

Indiego: Who directed and produced the video?

Arabella: The video was directed by Thomas Neunreither and produced by my manager Lyn Maxwell. Cinematography and post production was done by both Thomas and Carl Mason.

Indiego: Tell us a bit about the video. What does the title mean?

Arabella: The song is about a perfect moment in a relationship that you want to hold onto and preserve for as long as possible, so that it remains exactly the way it is - that is why the name of the single is "Like This."

Indiego: What is the story (creative concept) behind the video?

Arabella: The concept for the video was quite simple- we created a road trip that included only two people: myself and the male lead acting as my boyfriend. We decided to put the focus on the magic of young love, and create a modern day fairy tale of the way a first love should make you feel. I think this was accomplished really well in the video - it's very whimsical and happy, just like the song.

Indiego: Where you involved in the creative aspects of the video?

Arabella: There were a number of people who had creative input in the concept of the video. My manager, my stylist Cally Palmer and obviously the director himself were all very active in visualizing the finished product. Although it was difficult for me to be completely involved in this (due to my being in Durban), we had definitely agreed on the fact that we wanted to create something young, fun, simple and pure - nothing too overproduced because it
wouldn't have fit the song.

Indiego: Where was it shot?

Arabella: The video was shot in a number of different locations in Cape Town [Die Strandloper, Langebaan; West Coast Petrol Station; Wijnlands Auto Museum]

arabella lathamIndiego: In the video you are seen playing the guitar and the drums. Are you a drummer as well as a guitarist?

Arabella: I am definitely a guitarist. I started playing when I was about 12 years old and have been passionate about the instrument ever since. I would love to be able to say the same thing about the drums but unfortunately, drumming is a skill I have yet to master. It may not have looked like it, but I make a terrible noise on the drums.

Indiego: With regards to the song itself, are you also singing the harmonies?

Arabella: Most of the higher harmonies and double-ups were sung by me, whilst the lower harmonies were sung by a male vocalist Chris Tritton.

Indiego: Is this song part of an album?

Arabella: This is my first single ever, so it is not yet part of an album, but releasing an album is something I definitely would like to do, so hopefully by the end of this year, it will be.

Indiego: What are your immediate plans for the next few months, especially after this video release?

Arabella: I have written a lot of songs thus far so after getting enough exposure with "Like This," I would definitely like to release more music and hopefully get to work on an album in the near future. I loved filming the music video for this single, so that's something I would like to experience again, and hopefully I will get the chance to perform for people. I have my sights set very high and I want to be able to surprise people with the music I release in the future. It can only go up from here.

The Indiego team would like to thank Arabella and her Management team for taking our questions, and we would like to wish Arabella all the best in her music career.

This young singer-songwriter is surely going to make waves in the music industry! We eagerly await her next song....
