At what age did you start playing music, or started singing?
My love for music and singing started at the age of 8.
What instruments do you play (if any) none
What was the first tune(s) you learned or song that you sung?
Rick Ashley’s “Never gonna give you up”
Does your family have a musical background?
My Mom & sisters had a gospel girl group when they were younger and use to perform at different churches with a small band.
Which famous musician/s do you admire? Why?
Dionne Warwick, Alicia Keys, Gloria Estefan, for their soulfulness, and their strong writing abilities to write music that never fades.
Are you self-taught or did you study music formally? Self-taught
What are your fondest musical memories? In your house? In your neighbourhood or town?
My fondest musical memories are the days when my grandparents were still around, my Grand dad had an old gramophone and use to play his old vinyl records which he truly treasured, I would learn to sing along to some of his old Engelbert favourites.
Were you influenced by any old records, tapes or CD’s? Which ones?
I love the 70’s & 80’s music. I am of course an 80’s baby. My all-time favourite album if I had to choose would be “The Dionne Warwick collection”, also the self-entitled album released in 1971 by Earth Wind & Fire , Gloria Estefan and the Miami sound machine album called “Primitive love”, I also use to listen quite often to my mom’s old Kool and the Gang, Rick Ashley, jazz cassettes and to another old favourite Roberta Flack and Maxi Priest’s “Set the night to music”
What is your favourite album or cd of all time?
That’s a very tough one, but I will say “The Dionne Warwick collection”
Do you use social media to connect and share? Which is the main platform that you use?
I make use of Facebook, most of the time, my Facebook is linked to my twitter account.
Have you officially released any songs/albums? Any plans for the future?
I am planning my debut album launch to take place on the 21st February, the album is entitled “Invincible” (Read about the launch HERE)
Do you perform in public? Describe those occasions? Concerts, clubs, restaurants, events, radio, TV?
I perform at concerts, clubs, restaurants, events, radio and TV. They have been absolutely amazing, I have been so blessed to perform for people who are so receptive and who appreciate what I am doing.
Do you write your own lyrics? Yes indeed I write my own lyrics.
Do you get nervous before a performance? If yes, how do you deal with it?
I don’t think one ever gets use to performing. For me personally it usually helps to interact with your audience, so that they feel a bit closer to you. Yep talking to your audience helps in a huge way.
How often and for how long do you practice?
In this game, you’ve always got to be one up, so daily. You’ve got to constantly work at improving yourself.
Are you a full time or part time musician/artist?
I am now a full time musician, working hard to make a success of my career. I was an administrator prior to being a full time musician.
How do you balance your music/performances with other obligations – spouse/partner (if not single), children (if any), job, etc.?
I am single with no kids; I have a day job and Iive with my Mom. It becomes very challenging at times as I do become really busy and I manage myself, but it’s all about creating a balance and managing your time.
Where are you currently based? Cape Town
Are you planning on moving elsewhere to pursue your career?
Yes definitely I have big dreams of seeing the world, first stop UAE, then the states.
And last, but not least: what do you want to say to your fans or potential fans out there?
Please do check out my fan page for updates and info on my up and coming album release, gigs and other events .I’d also like to thank those who have been supporting me and following my musical journey, much love peace and respect to you.
